It all started in 2012, when Tennille, our founding member and mama of 2, found out she was expecting a soon-to-be sassy little girl, Dylan Scarlett. Like any fashion forward mom-to-be, she was excited to dress her little girl in Pinterest worthy looks. One problem, stores selling fashion-forward kids clothing didn’t exist in South Africa. She took the leap from stay-at-home mom to self-employed pretty much instantly after resigning from her desk job.

Kalo has transformed into a high fashion children’s clothing brand, locally hand crafting heirloom pieces that are comfortable yet push beyond the norms of children’s wear.

Kalo has always had an affinity towards staying at the forefront of design, curating long-wearing staples, all while maintaining a slow fashion approach at its core.

Even for children, fashion is becoming more than just clothes, it has transformed into a colourful and fun form of self-expression.

Through limiting designs, Kalo is able to enhance the customers buying experience by giving them a true sense of exclusivity with their one-of-a-kind garments.
